Any digital camcorder recommendations?

I am thinking of getting a camcorder and learning about getting digital film onto vcd's and dvd's etc.

I have ordered the leadtek TV2000xp capture card.

One of the main things I would be doing is setting the camera still and recording myself giving guitar lessons and examples etc. Also its very possible I would use it for recording gym workouts etc. Basic stuff like that.

What do I need to look for as far as good decent specs and features.

I guess I need s-video out and probably firewire too. Is firwire way faster than s-video out? I think the TV2000xp card would have me using the S-vid out of the camera.

What about specs like these "680,000-pixel CCD" or "1.3Megapixel ccd".....whats a decent spec for a decent picture quality?

Any specific recommendations....can anything good be had for, say, $600 and less?
