Food what cha think 1st system

Ok I have been reading everything I can for the last three days and started to piece together a system for audio. From my last post it was recomended that I stick with intel stuff, and several audio site agree. I also don't mind spending more since I am doing it in chunks. I realise that is not the best for shipping charges, oh well. So tell me what ya think. Kepp in mind I am a beginner so if there is something obivious (besides my spelling)
be nice!

MOBO
ABIT IT7 MAX2 ver.2.0 Intel 845PE chipset ATX motherboard Retail
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ion=13-127-141

processor
Intel Pentium 4 2.4BGHz 512K 533MHz CPU Northwood P478 Processor
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ion=19-116-139

I have been reading a bunch about psu's and I opted to spend some money here just to be sure I had enough power for now and future mods, All the reviews say it is extremely quiet.

COOLMAX 550W CT-550 Aluminum Power Supply W/ 3 double ball bearing fans and Fan Speed Control also w/ 1 Tri-light LED Fan
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ion=17-159-004

case
Raidmax Black 10-Bay ATX Mid-Tower Case w/ Front USB 2.0, Model 289WBP(Blue) - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ion=11-156-124
Is it a good one? Lots of space, lots of fans/space for said fans

What kind of ram?

Would I be better off in the long run stepping up to the FSB: 800/533/400 MOBO and processor? Tehy are not much more exspensive like $21 for MOBO something close to that for the processor.

I was thinking about SEAGATE SCSI 18.4GB 15,000RPM, MODEL# ST318453LC -X15 OEM
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ion=22-111-127
will this work with my chosen MOBO? I was thinking of using it only for writing audio to, and using my current hdd (samsung sp4002h, 7200 rpm) for everything else. I read somewhere that it is easier for the puter to read from one drive and write to another.

Once the planning is complete, I am going to order in $200 "chunks"
1) case & PSU
2)MOBO & cabling & such
3)processor
you get the point!
sorry for such a long post but I am very excited about this. Yippee!

This made me think of my first PC I built.

EPoX Mobo (can't remember which one, it burned up long ago . . .)
K6-2/450
128MB RAM
8GB HDD
8MB ATi AIW Pro
24X CD-ROM
33.6K Modem/Sound
Enlight case (still have it)

It was bleeding edge . . .

EvilRick:

"Ha!"

The 24x CDRom and 33.6K Modem made me laugh out loud. I recall when we picked up a 28.8 modem for the wife's computer and "man, was it going to fly across the Net!" I think we were using "Internet in a Box," remember that?

Anyway, to smileypie. best of luck. Enjoy!

If you wish to use a SCSI hard drive then you would need a scsi controller card which is different then IDE. I see the mobo you have choosen has serial ATA so why not go for a Western Digital Raptor 36GB SATA WD360GD 10,000 RPM 8MB Hard Drive for $139 @ newegg.

also rember you need mem and vid card - those are normally the most expensive components
