Pop up message at boot up

Hi!,

When I turn on my computer, when it finishes loading, I get a pop up message.

"Windows doesn't find c:\Windows\System32\system32.exe"

Is this because I started installing a program and did not finish the installation, and if so how do I get rid of the message.

Or is it a file that I am missing, and if so how can I get it back.

Thanks for your reply.

Germain

A Google search on your error message brings up these threads that might be helpful to you:

And if you follow the advice in this thread, be sure to read the entire thread before you start deleting registry keys.

Try the links reccomended by Mats first. If you still have the problem you might have to finish the installation, then uninstall it to get rid of the message. Probably remnants of the application are asking for a file found in the sys32 folder. The remnants of the program are your problem.

You could try searching by program name using wild carachters, like *gruntkill*.* and RENAME anything in the sys, or sys 32 folders. Change extension to .txt rather than delete. like "gruntkillexe.txt" that way you can rename if you cause a problem.

Lastly, search the registry by program name, buy make a backup.

Good luck...

Thanks, I went to the site you recommended, found a program called HiJack This and deleted System32.exe.

Great sites you suggested!
