Hard Drive Letter and Names

Okay, I just installed my second hard drive (IDE)...and I redid everything. On my primary I have both of my hard drives (7200 IBM Deskstar master and 5400 Maxtor slave). On my secondary I have my CDR and zip...the CDR is the master I think.

Is this the best way to set up these drives and what is the fastest udma speed my board supports (K7VMA)?

The IBM was new and I installed Windows on it and removed it from the Maxtor, but now my boot volume is G and it won't let me change it because it is the boot. What is the easiest way to change this? I have the CD and can boot with that, but is there a DOS command to change the drive letter or is there some easier way?

Also, when I boot it shows all drives listed correctly except the new drive. Instead of having IBM anything, it has IC3SL040AVER07-0 ER40A46A. Is that something to be concerned about?

Please help. Thank you!!!

Okay...just the drive letters then. Everything else seems alright. Is there a way to switch the drive letters in DOS or would there be some other easy way to switch the boot drive letter? I am still fairly new to the PC and I have not had to do this before.

Which version of Windows are you using? If you have XP you can go to Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools and select Computer Management.
Click on Disk Management in the left hand pane to view your drives. You can then right click on any drive and choose "Change drive letter and paths"
