Will a regular blacklight work as a UV light?

Hey guys, I got a regular blacklight like what you would buy at the stores. Could I mount this at the top of my case pointing down (not inside the case) (and i've doubled checked taht it shines in) and would it light UV sensitive stuff? I would be using a wall outlet, not anything from my psu.

i dont see why it shouldnt work. as long as you keep it out of the case. im not sure what kind of heat those things put off but you did the right thing not putting inside.

UV sensitive should be the same all around

You might be able to find UV Cathode lights for cheaper than blacklights...

I think he's talking about the flourescent type. He was talking about plugging it into a wall outlet. Anyway, yeah, the incandescent type do put off heat and they don't look as good as the flourescent type. I'd stay away from them. Telexen, I think he's saying that he already has one, so cost isn't an issue.
