home networking query

i have two desktop computers networked with just a cross over cable, no hub. i use internet connection sharing so both computers can access the cable modem. i would like to integrate my laptop into the network wirelessly and i am wondering what the cheapest way to do this is.
the only options i am aware of are:

1. putting a wireless pci card into my interneted computer, a wireless pcmcia into the laptop and bridging the two networks.

2. buying the wireless pcmcia card and getting a hub that'll support one wireless and two cables

which way is the best/cheapest/easiest? are there any other possibilities?

If you're going to branch off to another computer now you may do it again later, so you might as well invest in a wireless router with ethernet ports so you can plug your desktop systems into it.

Nick:

I vote for a wireless router as well. For about $150, you have much greater reliability and expandability. BTW, many wireless routers will also accomodate some wired connections.

This is what I did.

Good luck,
Dana

Good advice, Nick, if you need at least one wireless connection, as buying a wired router and one wireless access point could be more expensive than a single wireless router, which could have up to 4 RJ-45 ports for wired devices.

One like this one.

you're forgetting however that if he does what you suggest, he'll need to buy another nic for the desktop (ICS) since he doesn't have a hub...
