laptop ram not fully recognized?

Hey all,

Working on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. P4 2.0 Ghz, DDR ram. Has 256 PC2100, upgrading to 512 by adding a 256 stick.
Bought a generic DDR SODIMM PC2100 from a local shop, and installed it, and it is only recognized as 128MB.
Just wondering if anyone has similar experiences like this, and if you think it's the laptop not recognizing it, or the store mislabeled a 128 stick.

try putting the stick in a diff machine and see what it thinks it is

SODIMM modules don't fit in desktops...

If you have access to any other laptop that uses SODIMM RAM that would be probably your only option to test it.

What does it show if you put it in alone?
