Cant mount my fan
While out in Vegas i found Fry's ....simply amazing...wish they would build one around here....anyway while there i picked up a vantec aeroflow and tried to put it on my Gigabyte GA-7N400V Pro http://tw.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/...00%20Pro.htm#. When i try to put it on, a capictor sits behind the cpu slot so when i try to get the fan on a 45 degree angle i am unable to, the size of this fan is humungous, so basically....is there anyway to get it on? or should i just sell it?

I just took the side off my case and had another look at mine. It was a close fit like you said because of the capacitors.
I have an EpOX 8KHA+. I didn't try to tilt mine at 45 degrees. My mobo was already mounted in the case when I switched to this fan.
I just laid my case on its side and placed the fan as level as possible on the processor. I used a small pocket skrewdriver to manipulate the rear clip around the tabs and then used a regular flat bladed screw driver to clip the front clip.

i got the fan on, and the on capicator passes the paper test, unfortunatley the other side doesnt. I think im gonna have to bring this to my grinder and shave it a little. but first im going to test it for 20 mintutes to see how hot the heatsink gets and see if it would cause a problem....my guess is yes. any other opinions? i think sanding is the best option, any opinions on that?

i think you would be better of selling it and getting a different hsf combo i am sorry to say . grinding it will ruin it . you will be able to make it fit but i wouldn't do it .

the thing is that where it touches the capicator is on the angle of hs. thus it is very cool to the touch, and overall the hs is extremly cool. i think i will monitor a little more, but still, who would want to buy a brand new vantec aeroflow?

You could always try pusing the capacitor away from the HSF a little bit. I know that some of them have some play to them. Maybe doing that will allow you to keep the Aeroflow on your current rig.

If everything seems to be nice and cool & not causing any problems, I think it should be ok.
But I'm currently looking for a new HSF... |
