K7S5A PRO won't boot

Ok, It boots up like once every 50 tries. What is the recomended power supply for this MB? Because the bonehead who built it only put a 250w Aopen PSU in it. Is this the problem? It keeps cycling the floppy with a beep about every 15 seconds.

ECS K7S5A PRO
AMD XP2000+
512MB DDR 266
40 gig

I really don't think that 250w PSU is enough. I think the PSU is your problem.

What video card are you using?
If you are using any add-on cards, remove them and try running the PC with just the stuff it needs to run.

If you want to use your PC until you get a new PSS, put in a PCI video card if you have one. If the PC boots up all right with a low power card you'll know it was the high power demand of the video card stopping it from working. Then you just have to get a new power supply and in the mean time you have access to your files.

I got that every so often with the same board, but a cheaper card. Seemed hit and miss.... I thought it was a short, because half the time if I unplugged the drive cables and plugged them back in, or unplugged a fan or two, it'd start up fine.

Just so you know ECS K7S5A Pro board is very picky with alot of thing
(1) its picky with the PSU you use and knowing that its a 250 watts its too low. Get another PSU get around 400 watts just incase you decide to add things on later. PSU are very cheap these days I have Powmax 450 watt PSU which works perfectly fine with ECS K7S5A Pro

(2) The second thing you might encounter is Ram compatibility Yes yes this board is also picky with which ram you use. Find out what type of ram you have and check there website and see if its compatiable.

Once you get it going this board is awsome! No problems for me just yet. got it going on the first shot. Had trouble with my soundcard but that was with the drivers of that soundcard. SO good luck and let us know how it worked out
