xp won't detect my cd roms
k i got a 233 mhz 96 meg and 4 gig hd i know is a small system. but i'm just messing around. well it detects my drives but it won't play music or read my cd roms when i put them on the drive, i check and win xp does detect the drives i went and check if there was any problem with the drives and no, it shows no question mark on managment tab. so whaere else or what should i do. thanks

What kind of error do you get?
Have you tried other dics, excluding music CDs...

if u have two drives and one set to master and this is set to master u need to set it for slave, that way it can see both, and do u have all the cables in correct, like audio cable, the bus cable.

yes they r correct. they were working when i was using win 98 and last night i uprade to xp and now it detects them i can see both of them on my computer but won't do nothing when i insert a disk, even when i try double clicking on the drive it said that theres no disk on that drive. i open media player and try to open it from there and same thing.

hmm, u might need to update the IDE drivers. and try to download the drivers for the cd drive

update drivers might help...does it see data discs fine?
edit: oh try to stay away from double negs , they dont read as well as they work in conversation

ok this is what i find out, so far i read that win xp professional won't suport the samsung sw 208, so i'm screwed. is hard to find drivers for this cd-rw. has anyone have this problem before

About 2/3 rds of the way down you will find a driver that claims to work with all windows systems.
