Internet Problem

I'm not very smart when it comes to the internet, but I have a major problem. At my house there are several computers networked and they all share a modem connection from a single desk computer. On that computer i use Kazaa since it stays on all night. Recently, ALL INTERNET APPLICATIONS cannot receive bandwidth (explorer, united devices agent, online games, etc) except Kazaa which still functions fine! All computers networked to it also can't recieve bandwidth except when using Kazaa (the networked comp's have kazaa installed too). I dont recall anything out of the ordinary when this started but this is a major problem! *frustration*
I've unistalled & reinstalled kazaa but still no luck.
And I've run a virus check and spyware check...

Any Ideas, Help???

-XP Pro
-Norton System Wroks 2003, full drive scan
-Ad-aware 6.0 (it picks up the basic kazaa file, everything else i deleted)

u can get a router for about 30 dolars and that will solve a lot of problems and incress speed

atuaclly nick.arnott im not sure how that will sovle his problem. and the router does not increase your speed.
