How does your computer's BIOS see the DVD ROM drive? does it see it as a DVD rom or just a CD-ROM? Also, what OS are you using and does it see it correctly? What software are you using to play the DVDs?

What speed is the CPU? Being that old, is it possible that it is just too slow

brainchild is correct. I've had problems on DVD players on older systems, mostly K6-2/PIIs and earlier. With these boards, you have issues with PCI/ISA bandwidth, in addition to processor speed. Video bandwidth is another issue with the older boards, since it is usually shared with the remainder of the bus.

Not really. The computer is too old to play it properly.
