If there is a jumper on the motherboard to 'clear CMOS', make sure it isn't set... check in the manual - it will be clear what is what...

Yes, it sounds like the CMOS jumper has been left in the 'dump' position. If not it could be a bad board.

I've never worked on a board that will even boot with the jumper set to clear the cmos

I did have to clear the cmos a few times as i was trying another CPU in this board and it wouldn't boot, it was o.k till i kept clearing it, the jumpers are in the normal position, but now it keeps reseting.

Maybe you got a bogus battery. Try another one.

Not to hijack your thread or anything but when you say "wont boot" would that have anything to do with no video output as well? I'm thinking I may have a CMOS problem because I have no video and I really wanna rule out a bad mobo and processor when they are both brand spankin new out of the box.

have you tried flashing the bios? I've seen that before on certain boards. Otherwise you may need to replace the board altogether.
