ECS K7S5A Pro + AMD Athlon XP 2000+

Hey, my PC does nothing when I installeed a new motherboard ECS K7S5A Pro with a new AMD Athlon XP 2000+.
I just installed my cpu, psu and graphic card. When I swith him on the computer does nothing, no beep, no signal to the screen nothing. I switch to on other, old Duron CPU and then he boots perfect. Is the new processor broken or could it be that their is an other problem? thx

May not recognize the XP CPU without a BIOS flash upgrade. Have you tried dumping the CMOS and tried running BIOS setup at boot?

I cleared the CMOS, same result no signal, no beeps, nothing.
With the XP cpu on the mobo I can't get in the bios setup because the computer does nothing. So it is possible that I have to flash the bios first. So I can place the old Duron cpu on the mobo and flash it?

A "pro" revision board cannot possibly have a BIOS that doesn't know an XP2000+. Check the CPU for physical damage that might have occurred during its installation - cracked die, bent pins, that kind of stuff.

A defective CPU may not even show visible signs of damage...if it's new then you should still have a warranty from the vendor...

Did you have any problems mounting the heatsink, applying thermal paste, or anything like that?

If you have another Socket A motherboard maybe you could try the 2000+ in it.

did you hook up the cpu fan to the right header . i think they won't start if the rpm censer donesn't read a fan connected . and if you didn't hook up the case speaker yyou won't get any beeps .

hmm after reading it again if the duron fired up the other cpu might be bad .

Does it have a fsb jumpers on the motherboard?. Maybe you need to change that to 133/266. That's what I forgot to do on my motherboard. Just a simple thing kept it from booting.
