new ram what settings?

ok I just took out apacer pc2100 ram and installed Corsair XMS pc2700. what if any settings do I need to change in BIOS? any help on this would be appreciated.

What motherboard? What are the latency timings the RAM supports? probably 5-2-2-2

I'm assuming your RAM supports CAS 2 ...if it's 2.5 don't try this

Go to the advanced chipset features and look for these values (may not be exact, but should be close)

SDRAM Active Precharge Delay
SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay
SDRAM RAS Precharge Delay
SDRAM CAS Latency

try setting those in order to 5, 2, 2, and 2

If it fails to boot, reset your CMOS (jumper on the motherboard) and when you boot back to the BIOS and set the timings to 6-3-3-2

You shouldn't have to change any settings. The memory timings will be set by the SPD. The SPD is a small chip on the memory module that includes all timings and settings for that module. When your computer powers up, it sets the timings for the module based on the information in the SPD.
