Win2k Server Tape Backup

Howdy,

I have built a server for an Insurance co. It has a Seagate Tapestor Travan 20GB Internal ATAPI Tape Drive installed.
I tested the backup system (the one in win2k server) here at the house when I built it. It worked fine in both immediate and scheduled mode. Now, however, it doesn't work at the office. If you click on media under pysical devices nothing shows up. Everything I could find at MS suggested that SP4 was needed. I installed that but still no go.
I was thinking of reinstalling the drive and just starting over but the tapes would still have some data on them (It worked fine until
they got more new tapes and prepared them according to MS Q241007).

Anyone have a clue as to what is going on? At the least how can I erase the tapes so that they would be completely blank?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Gerry

Just put a tape into the drive and then thru the media pool control you can choose to erase the tape as long as your drive is found. If not then remove the drive from the device manager, reboot and reinstall the tape drive.

Mntsnow,

Thanks for your reply. The drive is found but it does not recognize a tape when you put one in so I will try reinstalling the drive.
Once again thank you for your help.

Gerry
