No Post "new build" Help!

Hello all, I hope this support request find you in good health and high spirit.

Now for my problem.
New build - MSI mobo KM2M, VIA km266 chipset, onboard graphics, lan, audio.
CPU is palamino 1900 by AMD,Volcano 9 HS & Fan
400 WATT PS
CDRW, DVD, FDD

Right now i have a known good 3GB HDD with Win 98 SE on it
But have a new WD 40GB HDD to put in it

have tried both 256MB SDRAM & 128MB DDR2100"never at the same time.

19 inch VDS Monitor, MS KB and Mouse
__________________________________________________ __

I get no video display.and no beep code. I tried a known good 64MB AGP card and still no video display.Again there are no POST

Any Ideas here? Could this be a poor choice of CPU for this board?
Thanks for any consideration

What was that motherboard model #? (double check that)

Sounds like the CPU is not initializing. Check all your jumpers to ensure they match the settings needed for your CPU FSB & RAM FSB.

also be sure you don't have it shorted to the case(mobo) like an extra standoff hitting the bottom of the board. Is this a new or used mobo? BTW did you mean the KM2M?Also do you have the cmos jumper in the right position?

another thing if you are using the KM2M it has the seccond power plug that has to be used to power the mobo(4pin plug + the 20 pin plug) Also where do you have the fsb jumper set(between the pci and agp slots)? 100 or 133?

Is there a jumper on the mobo to disable the onboard video when you have an AGP card installed? It may just auto-disable the onboard video when one is plugged in.

Do you know if both those sticks of RAM are good?

I would try . . .

Removing the AGP card.
Use either the SDRAM or DDR and hook the monitor upto the onboard VGA connector. If you get no beeps or video, then probably bad RAM. That is saying you have all the other jumpers set correct for FSB and all.

ok
tried pulling the main board out
tried diff Monitor
And yes it is the KM2M MSI mainboard

Could you give this another thought?
This is the second motherboard i have ordered for this system
the first on a"ECS" board has a bad IDE controller
getting to be a drag.
Hate to order another mobo but need to get to it if thats what it is

where are you getting these from? Did you try starting the mobo out of the case on a wood table or book with just the bare things needed to boot?
