MAD1

If you are not running any internal lan, then a software firewall for a single system is OK.

But if you have networked your home, then some sort of hardware front end firewall might be appropriate. There are several on the market. I'm using Netgears FR314. It is a router/firewall/10-100mb 4 port switch.

See this link. ---> http://www.netgear.com/categories.asp?xrp=4&yrp=12

Re:Can TWO software Firewalls both be run together ?

Aloha
If You are Lucky enough to be running Win2k(THE Greatest Os!!)(Haven't tried Xp-Yet?)
You don't have to worry about your sys resources~Plenty to go around!!Just Lotsa Ram~700+!!

If your still running Any 9x\Me I am truely Sorry for you and
Yes;with the Limited Heap resources and failure to release Heap resources
when not needed you are limited as to what you can Run!!!

I like the Theory~You can't EVER-Stop a Hacker!~So you build layers of defense to make it Not worth while to bother with you !

No scientific proof more is better(Only Logical Mister Spock),But Jammer and ZoneAlarm Do work well together!
Jammer picks up some apps that zone doesn't and before zone does.
Jammer also detects any changes about to be made in the start-up sections of the Registry and
it asks for your confirmation before it allows these changes to assist in trojan prevention!Permission to run reg once is required!

I also found RegRunII to be a Cool security app~http://www.greatis.comChecks registry at intervals or when you want to
assure no tampering, provides safe startup uncheck reg once etc..,Nt service listing and ini's etc...

One more yet is BlackIce-Not popular here but I find it fun sometimes to see whos practicing their Hacking skills as
it can be set to get info including physical Nic card and workgroup info on the unsuspecting!

Aloha~BobViper
