No POST or Video from Mobo

This is a clean extention of my previous thread but since one of my main problems from the other thread are fixed I decided it would be better to start over and have a clean slate to get help on.

My problem is this, I have setup like so:

2600+ Athlon
1gb PC2700 DDR333
Asus A7V8X XSeries ( http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=A7V8X-X&langs=09 )

I just fixed my ram so it would stop making my computer beep. It wasn't placed in the right slot, that was my error from the previous post. Even though I fixed that the computer still displays no visuals. No Post, BIOS, No Ram Check, NOT even a flicker or hint of life from my monitor.

I have placed in it a AGP card first (Radeon 9500 Pro) and I have also tried a PCI Card (Rage 3D Pro). Both have had the same effect/outcome which is nothing. Not a flicker, not a flash, like the monitor is off and it looks like its sending no signals at all to the cards.

Eveything lights up, turns on and runs on the Mobo. I get no Beep Codes so I dont know whats wrong, I have no real way to diagnose this problem.

Any suggestions?
Thanks...

Yes,

I have 3 monitors that I hooked up to my old computer. I tested it on 2 monitors but to the same effect. Thats what else worries me. 2 different monitors both which work fine on my older computer dont work on this on either video card.

sounds like a system board issue to me since you also get no beep codes. try booting with no ram at all. in most cases youll def. get long beeps with no ram. still nothing? id look into making sure that motherboard is grounded with the copper hold offs and if so maybe try powering it up out of the case to rule out a short.
i would say first system board, then cpu(rare but ive seen it) if that video card works in another pc.

dont bother booting with anything except cpu, ram and video too. you wanna isolate the problem. good luck.

SD

p.s. did you look into jumper settings on the board?

Send a message via Yahoo to Brainchild
Check the MOBO for grounding against the case.In fact I would pull it out of the case, and assemble it on a non conductive surface. And run just the minimum.
Also reset the CMOS and see if that helps

Good Luck

How to: Reset the CMOS?

And I unhooked everything, took the mobo out, put in the video card, ram and processor. Booted out of case........but than the mobo didnt even boot up.....I think I was just overtired and couldnt think straight.

I'll try again later, hopefully I didn't short out the board or anything. This stuff is too fragile for it's own good...

usually there's a jumper to clear the cmos on the board. some of the older boards you have to just pull the battery out and leave it out for a while then put it back in.

I never got to clear the CMOS but I did assemble the motherboard on a non-conductive surface and start her up.

At first there was no effect, so what I did was I took ou the ram as somebody had suggested but all I got were the error codes that Ram was not there. Does that mean my motherboard is working properly? Power goes thru it all, powers up all my equipment, lights go on and stuff and it makes error sounds but I still have no video.

At this point all I had hooked up was the V1d30 card and the processor and they produced the same effect as having everything in it, which is nothing.

What exactly does clearing the CMOS do? Could it possibly fix the problem? I wouldn't mind hearing an indepth explanation of what it does and what it can fix.

Thanks again, I appreciate the help and look forward to hearing more information.
