Computer doesn't start.

I just turned on my son's computer and it only makes a long beep and 2 shorts beep and nothing happens, even the screen doesn't come on.

Would anyone know if this is easy to fix, or if I should bring it to a technician.

Thank you
Germain

1 long beep & 2 short beeps = Display Adapter Problem

If you'd like to look this up yourself look for beep codes and preferably the name of your bios with it.

I can't remember the standard audio beep errors off the top of my head, but here's something you may want to try.

1 - Video card has come loose. If the videocard is not snug in the AGP (or PCI) slot, it will produce the symptoms you're describing. Crack the case and while grounding yourself to the case, re-seat the videocard (pull out, push back in).

Try the system again afterwards. If you get the same beeps, or if the videocard is onboard, them you may be best to contact a technician that will have spare parts to help TS this problem.

Good show MatrixmaN. There's no law of diminishing returns around here.
