Talk Temp Need Advice!!!!!

Hi, im running a amd 2.4 xp,512mb pc2100 on a k7s5a mobo. i was wondering if improving the cpu speed in the bios setup to a 133 mhz will make my temp go up and will it damage the processor??at the moment runs system temp 38,cpu temp 53. any suggestions on how to lower temps below 40 if so what do i need in a good budget range kinda thing.this is two question roled into 1 soz about long question guys.

Um. What is the FSB set to right now? 100MHz? The XP processors are suppose to run at 133MHz (or 166MHz w/ a barton core).

Also as far as heat, if you look at a number of monitor levels, overheating occurs over 63 C. If the 53 C temp is done during a system load, you probably don't have anything to worry about.

If you're still looking to lower the heat, you can use Artic Silver compound between the HS and CPU - we've seen that lower the temp 2 - 4 C. Is this a retail CPU or OEM?

im using a retail version with heatsink and fan.its set at 100mhz at the minuteB

It should be set to 133mhz...you need to improve airflow in your case if your system temp is that high...that will bring it and the CPU temp down.

fans, front and back, make sure the power supply has the bottom fan as AMD reccomends. If you are feeling real creative you could put a blowhole in the top of the case or a side fan over your video card.

i already have an exhaust blower pulling hot air out of the case but thats about it
