VHS to DVD solutions?

are there any stand alone devices that copy vhs to dvd?

any body have any experience doing this? on a mac?

I have a nephew who does it with hardware. Just because you're wanting to encode it to DVD doesn't mean that the image will improve. The finished product is only as good as the source. You may find just copying to VCD will be just as easy.

the way I do it is to hook up a vcr to the video input of the video card and convert the tape to digital first, at the highest possible quality.

Then using a DVD authoring app, you would use the new digital footage and burn it.

I use a bunch of apps, its hardly a quick method, but it works. Good Luck!
