Noise Spike in Phone Line

Hello,

I have been hearing a loud noise spike at regular intervals when ever i receive a call. However they are no noise when i dial out.

I removed all the phones and called but still i got the noise spike. I checked the NIC box and there is no problem upto that point. I am thinking it could be the internal wiring.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to go handle this problem.

Thanks,
Shyam

Contact your phone company. At no cost they should come out and check your line. If it is their problem they will repair it. If not you will have at least focused the problem down to your internal wiring. Offer the repair person some bevarage and a snack and he might be very helpful.

I did contact my phone company. They said there is no fault in the external wiring and that boils down to internal wiring. Could a faulty phone jack cause this problem? If so how to fix a faulty phone jack? Any ideas.

Most jacks are very very simple to replace. Just unscrew the face plate, then unscrew the jack. The wires are color coded as well as the place to attach them to on the jack.
