At Home looking into buying a gfx

well this is a follow-up thread to my last thread nm anyway,

those are my currect specs :
Amd 3+ 512k @ 2172MHz
512 ddr @ 400 hz
DFI Lan-Party mobo (dont remember the model tho)
and Ge-Force 2 MX 400 64 ram

anyway i purchsed this comp last week (without gfx i used the gfx on my old comp)

now the thing is im not sure if its gonna be smart buying now a new gfx... im playing games but they seem to run "ok" (gf 2 :\ )

my question is : is it worth buying NOW a solid radeon 9800 pro / gf fx 5900 ultra ?

or should i wait for lets say 2 months maybe 3 till the prices drop and till the new good games hit the stores (doom3 *duh*)?

my budget goes from 200-350$ USD

In case im gonna buy the card in a later stage (3 months lets say) if i save nuff money ill probably have at that time 500$ USD what suggestions are you guys having for me ? (to buy now, wait a bit etc..) ?

thanks in advance,
l33tz0r0

If you wait 2-3months by then in a few months more things will be cheaper, something else will be on the horizon........
There is no point waiting. If you can afford either of those two cards then they will keep you going for through all of the games on the horizon with no trouble (doom3 would run great on that system).

I would suggest a Radeon 9700 Pro, since the Radeon 9800 is a bit out of your price range.

Such is the dillema we all face. You can never stay on top of the game cuz their is always something better coming. What I do is pick the best my budget allows and grab it. Dont forget, HL2 come out September and you'll want a DX9 card by then. IOW, dont wait too long.

Hey, just get a Radeon 9800 for a lil less than $300 and clock it up to 9800 PRO speeds.
