9700 Pro Problems w/ GTA: VICE CITY

GTA: Vice city is virtually unplayable when using the latest ati drivers on my computer. I experience such high video corruption that I can't even manuver the starting menu. I found that by going back to the 3.2 version of the drives I can play the game. Unfortunately when I do this the objects in the game load very slowly. The latest patch for the game is installed. If anyone has any ideas let me know. THanks

When you mean the latest patch is installed, are you talking about the optional patch that should only be installed if you have graphic problems? I have the radeon 9700 pro AIW, with catalyst 3.5 and it works fine. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game?

I have reinstalled the game several times. In fact I have gone as far as re-formatting my computer in case something odd was going on. I've tried playing the game with and without the optional patch and it plays no different.

could you tell us a little more about your computer, like the specs?

My Specs:

Athlon 1900
msi ktv4 motherboard 512 mb 2700 ram
Radeon 9700 pro
2hard drives etc....

Everyother game I play runs perfect. Such as MOH, Nolf2, BF1942

Already tried. There is nothing there that is similar to my problem.
I also contactacted ATI and they weren't any help.
