HELP!!! NEED A TWEAK!!!

i need a registry tweak or something that will allow me to restore a win98a backup file in a win2k pro environment...different file extensions...what happened was i was running 98 on this system, then it crashed and i had to format and reinstall the OS...couldnt find my 98a disk, so i upgraded to 2k pro...now that i have done it, i noticed that 98 uses the .QIC file extension during backup(from what i have read this is a compressed version of the .BCK files in win2k???), and win2k uses the .BCK extension...anything you can do is greatly appreciated, need a fix for this ASAP, b4 this friday, as i need to set up the backup of my checking accounts for quicken deluxe 2K

thanx,
Brian

Found this at another site. Dunno how useful it is - M$ just says you can't restore QIC files with NTBackup (very helpful there. ).

For anyone wanting to bypass Microsofts ineptness and restore those win98 backup files to win2k go to download.com and download "backup mypc". Start the program and get past the popup windows. Then, go to the Restore panel and under "restore from" select "file". Then go to "tools" at the top and select "catalog import". Find the backup file and you should be ready to restore your files. You have to wonder where Microsofts head is at sometimes when the miss something as obvious as this one. Good luck all.
The app does still exists at Download.com.

Cheers
Mick

EDIT: Reviews of that app don't look good - quite a few problems. Take care in trying it.

Should be other third party backup apps that will do this I would think - you might need to search about a bit to find a free trial one. Good luck!
