Need help with GF4 MX TV-out
I just got it all set up, S-Video link from the crad to a scart socket which is connected to my TV, for some reason the display on the TV is in blacn and white, and the only way I get colour is by leaving the scart socket half out from the TV, how do I fix this?

Check whether that SCART connection is S-Video capable at all. Most are not. Then there are plenty SVideo-SCART cables that aren't either.
Then there's TV norms. Make sure your VGA card is set to NTSC/PAL/whateveryourcountryuses. How to do that? Either by software, somewhere in the card's Advanced Properties, or by jumper. Or, on some cards, not at all.
Finally, the TV must be connected and powered before you power the computer, so the VGA card's BIOS can detect the TV and fire the graphics chip up in a suitable mode of operation.

Its not that, it all works, just when I plug the scart socket into the tv fully the computer image is only in black and white, but when the scart socket is not properly in (the left ahnd side pushed in and the right hand side just out) I get colour. I want to know why it is doing that and how I can fix it

This is because with just ONE wire connected, the graphics card will be running RCA mode (with the chroma signal modulated onto the luma signal); with two wires connected, it'll be S-Video (with separate chroma). Now if the graphics card runs S-Video while the output device does not, you'll get b/w.
So it's EXACTLY what I said. The cable and/or the receiving end aren't really doing S-Video.

adams hardware
hey peterM i set up the tvout on adams comp, the setup is like this:
tvout on his card is sum dodgy socket, like svhs but not quite, it looks like this.
o o
oooo
ooo
the card came with an adapotor for it which converts that into svideo or one of those yellow video things.
on his telly he has a scart adaptor which has scart plug on 1 end and then svideo, yellow vid, red audio, white audio plugs on the other.
then he has an svideo cable connecting the tvout adapter to the scart adapter. i have checked the setup of the drivers and theyr fine, correct country for tvout etc. i have the exact same setup on my computer except my card has an svideo socket on it rather than one of those dodgy things so i dont need an adaptor. and mine works perfectly.
u reckon if he used a yellow video cable rather than the svideo one to connect the adapter to the scart adapter it wud work properly?

Try replacing the SVideo cable.
