AGP 8X or 4X??

Firstly my specs:

ASUS P4C800 Deluxe
P4 2.8GHz 800FSB
1 GB Muskin PC3200 DDR
SB Audigy 2
ATI 9700 Pro

I have trouble with the 9700 Pro locking up my system during games such as MotoGP2. Someone suggested upping the AGP voltage from 1.5V to 1.6V in the BIOS. Is this safe??

Also, does anyone know HOW ON EARTH I can change the AGP settings from 4X to 8X or vice-versa in this BIOS. I cannot find anywhere in there to do it. Maybe I can't???

Finally, what is the optimum AGP apeture size?

thanks guys

Hmm, when u got the card i think theres somewhere u can set the AGP to manual. I havent worked with a video card but im sure u have to manually change it obviously.

Running in 8X, the AGP signal voltage is 0.8V, not 1.5V.

AGP aperature should be set to approximately 50% of your system RAM, if it goes that high. Since you're running 1Gb of RAM, like me, set it to 256Mb

First things first though... make sure that it's not a driver problem causing the lockups.

Go here and download the Catalyst 3.5 drivers and the Control Panel.

I've found that the Catalyst reference drivers makes for a more stable and better performing system than using the OEM drivers. You won't need to install the WDM capture drivers unless your card has video in.

Install the drivers first, reboot, and then install the Control Panel.
