What scanner do you recommend? Not over $125

I need to get another scanner and I don't know what to get. What is a good brand? and one that's
NOT over $125. My other scanner that I never use is a Visioneer. it's not a very good one and I can't get it to work with XP.

My HP K- 60 all in one is able to scan but it's not that good.
I need a flatbed with a lot of room.

Well that depends...
What do you need to scan and at what resolution do you need to scan it?

Hp is a little over priced for the features you get.

Images cut from magazines and family photos. Nothing over 600 DPI. I see there isn't that many brand name scanners. Cannon and HP are the only two I'd consider. And maybe Epson.

My experience with Visioneer has been good. We had a One-Touch 7600P (parallel port) for several years and it ran great. The only problem we had was a conflict with the driver running in ME (caused occasional blue screen errors). But I love the buttons and the OCR. So I just recently replaced it with a One-Touch 9020, which is high-speed USB 2.0 and can do negatives and slides. With the USB 2.0 card it was under $120. It's fast and gives great results.

I can tell you that, compared with the HP scanners we use at the office, the Visioneer produces better quality images without the headaches of the Omnipage Pro software.

Send a message via ICQ to dunbar
Owned: HP, Colorado.
Seen/head of: Umax, Visionee, Relisys, Microtek.

Pricewatch is a good place to get names,
Flatbed Scanner Review website might offer some hints, but it looks waaaay overblown for most of us.

My 2 cents.

I suggest that you get that all in one printer by HP.

I love mine it makes great copies, Scans and prints.

the nice thing about the HP is that it's ink lasts substantially longer than most other printers. I bought mine about 6 months ago and have not burned up a cartrige yet.

Thanks all for replying - I just bought the HP 3570c scanner from office depot. I would have bought something online but this store is right across the street and I wanted to play NOW. I'll let you know how it works. Thanks.
