HELP me UNINSTALL Office 2K!

Hey Guys!


I'm encountering a strange problem while trying to uninstall Office 2K...just to give you a slight history, I copied the entire office disc onto the hard drive and installed it from there. Always seems to work better that way, especially when applying patches or updates. The disc was copied to a folder on the C:/ drive named Office 2K.

Anyway, so I'm wanting to uninstall Office 2K now, so I do the usual...go to add/remove programs, select Office 2K, etc...but I keep getting this error:



Installer patch package??? I've never seen this happen before and believe me, this is not the 1st or even 20th time I've uninstalled Office.


Any idea what's going on?

Some top-of-the-head comments.

Do you still have the CD? Will the program uninstall if the CD is loaded? Can you compare the CD with the HD directory?

Did you try a 3rd part uninstaller like Tweak or Windows Configurator?

I've seen cases where programs wouldn't install because the file 'instmsiw.exe' was missing or corrupt or moved, etc. This is the Windows Installer Service. See if the service is running.

Hope this provides some help or leads you to a solution. The ill behaved routine tasks are the most frustrating.

Sorry for not reporting back sooner, but I did find out (through the Office Update website) that I was, in fact, missing Windows Installer 2.0 for Win 2K. I'm not quite sure why it was missing, but I downloaded/installed it and my problems were solved!
