512mn PC133 SDRAM Problem

I got my GF an upgrade from 128mb pc133 to 512mb pc133.

Her comp ran slow before but with the upgrade it runs like a dream, there's 1 problem tho that occured after I installed it. It restarts itself every 15minutes for some reason. Just POOF restart, no warning, no reason.

Downloaded some diagnostic software from the M$ site because after the 3rd restart windows noticed the problem and reccomended the DOS based software. So far the program has run through about 6,499.653 tests (slight overexaggeration but you get it) and it hasnt stopped yet.

Anybody have any "off the top" suggestions or opinions as to what it could be?

These computer shows are starting to get more ghetto and bootleg by the month, they are cheap, and even tho things are wrapped like new I can't trust them as much anymore due to things like this and my previous thread about my athlon 2600+ and Asus A7V8X Non-Boot/post problem.

It does sound like it could be your memory. Have you tried swapping it out with your old RAM to see if your PC works?

I don't know what sort of comp show you went to, but I went to one in the UK not too long ago, and at the end of the day, a guy selling memory sticks (loose in antistatic bags) just threw the lot into a cardboard box and dumped the box roughly into the back of his van!

Yeah,

The old 128 stick works fine.

That's how I felt, like this guy charged me a nice $60ish sum of money for something thats been in his bedroom dresser drawer for a year. I'm afraid the gig of PC2700 DDR could be messing up my other computer because I got it from the same stand.

The girl that sold me the 512 stick stuck it in some machine for a second then bagged it, but how she held that precious peice of silicon kinda urked me....

The bad thing is, you can never really find these people again even tho you have a reciept....doesnt do you any good if they never come back.

The ultimate in memory testing so far. First program to ever run after fitting RAM into a computer, no matter whether it's new or used, major brand or noname.
