Radeon 9800 or 9700?

I'm pondering which video card to get while staying under $300. I guess I have the Radeon 9800(non-pro), Radeon 9700 PRO and Radeon 9700. How big is the difference between a 9800 non-pro with the pro version, and how does the 9800 compare with the 9700 pro?

i vote 9700pro, the advantages to the 9800 are very minimal, unless you're a benchmark freak

get the 9700 pro you wont regret it

The difference between the 9700 Pro and the 9800 Pro is like the difference between the Ti 4200 and the Ti 4600 - In other words, the only reason to get the 9800 Pro is if you absolutely (for some reason) must have the hottest, latest tech out.

My advice is the same as everyone elses: Get the 9700 Pro and don't look back.

Won't the 9800 256MB last longer? Since it has 256MB?

It has yet to be seen.

What I suspect is that by the time games roll around that demand more than 128mb of local memory for graphics, the 9800 Pro will be a little underpowered. That doesn't mean it can't play games like that though.

i would get a 9800 NON PRO and overclock it to a 9800 pro, the 9800 NP can be had for for $269 which is cheaper than a 9700 pro

Thanks for all the replies, I'm actually not even thinking about the 9800 pro (out of my budget). I've found a Radeon 9800(non-pro) for $283, RAdeon 9700 pro for $292, and a Radeon 9700(non-pro) for somewhere around $225. I actually do many hardware intensive visualizations and of course play many games, and my Radeon 9000 PRO just doesn't seem to cut it anymore. And to iNeb, the PRO versions are just clocked higher than the non-pro.
