Gaming ADSL, Please help

Signed up the other week and had to wait for a line check, the line check came back positive and now the phone provider has to set up the ADSL at the exchange, how long does this normally take?

I thought it would be a simple set up, but its taking ages...
Its funny you want high speed internet and you have to wait weeks for connection... All the adverts ya see give a false indication to the time it takes to get connected..
Some cases you have to wait up to 6 weeks before getting connection...

My next query is once getting connected.. having a wall splitter on the phone line, does this affect the signal? is it best having a dedicated connection for the ADSL... I have brought all the line filters and set them up, but am not sure that having a splitter will cause extra noise thus making it hard for the modem to connect....

Any help would be appreciated, or any feed back on ADSL or DSL would be great... would like to hear any problems and resolutions..

Thanks,

well here in usa if you have a splitter it is going to interfere with your normal phone. As far as the connection time it can take that long depending on how far you are from the box.

Your splitter might make it impossible to connect mate and you may want to sepnd the extra cash to get a dedicated line for the dsl. Good luck.

Misc Yeah thanks

If the splitter is a prob, i can just remove it and have just the adsl on that connection...
I'm getting quite a good phone signal with normal dialup, so connection shouldn't be a prob, just splitting might give it extra noise....
I am just waiting now, so i wont know until i get connection....
Any other help will be appreciated

You need the filters no matter how good your connection is. Anything can cause your dsl to go out bad weather, fax machine, burglar alarm anyting street lights. When you say you have a splitter do you mean you have 2 lines on it?

from my experience this normally causes problems depending on how many phone devices you have on the line anything that goes to a phone 4 or more you probably need a separate line depending on how far youare from the crossbox or CO.

Finance 3 phone connections

we have one connections in to the house and 3 points throughout.... there are 2 phones and a few computers that have dial up to this... but depending on how i go, i will be the dedicated internet connection and network to my computer.... that's what's running off the line points though...
