Can I boot with no keyboard attached??

Hi,

I am setting up a system at a remote location to act as a web server to host some web sites etc...

I want to just have it plugged in to the internet and the power, without any other stuff connected. However when i reboot the machine with this setup, i get a keyboard error with the only option being "press f1" doh!

Now, is it possible, with my motherboard, Gigabyte GA-7VRX to boot with no keyboard attached..

Thanks in advance!

Jason

Check for an option in your BIOS that says something like 'Halt On' and modify that. It should take care of your problem.

There may be an option in the BIOS to not halt on keyboard errors. If there isnt you can get something like this http://www.cadesigns.co.uk/dkm1b.htm

Unfortunately there is no such option in the bios

I will just have to put up with the attached keyboard and hope no one plays with it while i am not around!

Thanks for the QUICK replies!

Welcome to TechIMO, Jason!

Can't you simply unplug the keyboard after you've booted up?

Depending on the OS you are using, the keyboard shouldnt be that big of a deal. With no password it doesn't help them, unless they boot off a floppy.

I can't unplug it, because i am running<gulp>
windows 2000 adv server! lol
i will prob need to reboot remotely once in a while, and if i try it without the keyboard connected it will hang at that keyboard error msg!

Thanks!

Yo Jason,

I would get a cheap wireless keyboard and hide it in the closet, or lock it in a drawer, etc.

Password the BIOS and set a good password for any accounts on the box. Then they keyboard wont matter.
