Not even a boot screen

Just made a new computer at the computer show.

Brought home the Mobo and Processor.

Athlon 2600+
1gb pc2700 DDR

After I hooked everything up from which I salvaged parts from my old computer and started this one up hoping it would work the first time it didn't boot up. My computer's internal speaker makes this repetative constant beeping sound, and I get no boot screen. My monitor doesn't even flicker on at all with any sort of life. It's like it's in standby when not connected to the PC.

The Mobo instruction manual has no technical support as to what the beeping could mean so I don't know what it's trying to tell me. What I do fear is that the problem could lie within the installation of my processor. It may not be seated correctly although it looks correct. But the reason I'm worried about the processor being the problem is because when I was putting it on it didnt go on 100% the first time, I had to take it off and put it back on which smeared the heat goop that goes on top of the processor a little bit.

I'm not sure if that can be the problem but it seems more likely than anything else. My processor didn't smoke or catch on fire like stereotypical athlons do when overheated so I dont think it fried (or I hope not anyway), but do you think perhaps it shut itself down because it knew there is something wrong there?

I wish I knew what the speaker beeping is. Any opinions or help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Got RAM? How 'bout a video card. Take the cpu out and check for bent pins. Recheck and reseat everything... Go back to step 1 and start over.

BTW, you can find beep codes at the mobo manufacturers website.

Yeah.

Athlon 2600+
1gb PC2700 DDR 333
Ati Radeon 9500 Pro
3HDD's (60+60+20gb)
CDRW
Sound Blaster Live
WinTV card
NIC Card

In the beginning when I was hoping everything would work fine, but I'm still not sure what the problem is and the manual lacks technical support and it wants me to call some weird long distance number for help. I was hoping I could come here for some input.

Thanks again.

Try it w/ just your boot drive. You may have that hard drive array set up wrong.

First double check everything.

Continuous beeps are often a sign of a bad power supply or bad connections. Check all your MOBO connections, especially the power connector. Check your external connections, e.g. monitor cable.
Does the power supply seem to be working (i.e. is the fan working, does the PSU get warm after a while?)

also check if all your fans are on and running. my computer died and wouldn't start for a while, but then I realized that my heatsink fan wasn't connected.

Its weird.

For instance, the power supply is smaller than my old one, so I won't be able to use 2 of my cd roms or the cool light accessory that came with the chassis. The power supply comes with 2 extra power cords that don't fit anywhere on my Mobo, but the main P1 connector fits nicely.

Could the problem be that I don't have the right power supply? It came with the chassis and looks pretty built in, im not sure how to go about getting another bigger one in there if thats the case. Also there are lights on the outside of the case (i know i know, but it was cool) and they connect to a power cable.

3 hard drives, a Radeon 9500 pro which needs a power cable, a cdrw take up all my cords.

Did I do something wrong when making the computer?
Could that alarm be cause my insufficient power?
Could I just be a complete idiot?

The good thing is my athlon didnt smoke or catch fire so I dont think it's damaged, but at this point...what do i know.

The downside to this chassis is that I can't connect the neon light accessory and another cd rom drive I had on my old comp. I had a KT7a-RAID prior so it's power supply expected other drives and

I'm curious... what brand BIOS do you have?
