Systems Re: Athlon 3200+ vs. P4 3.2 GHz

I'm so disappointed: Athlon's 3200+ wassimply no match for Intel's 3.2GHz processor

Now I see there's going to be a new rivalry between 3 new processors in the future. Who do you think will win? Intel's `P5', Athlon 64 or Apple's G5

Your Guess is as good as mine...

1. the P4 is newer...that theoretically screws with AMD's rating system.

2. Athlon 64 ... Apple? pshh...

Overclockers could have told you not to expect too much from the 400fsb bump. It was silly to think so. But the faster these chips get the Pentium needs more and more actual mhz to beat AMD. AND...they're gonna need it...

It is interesting to note the total lack of respect that the Opteron gets. Prolly cause it's a high dollar server chip w/out many mobo options. But, it shmokes the intel offerings. Hopefully a more affordable Athlon64 will do the same and still offer overclockers (enthusiasts) a bit of fun.

McApple has it's niche for peeps w/ employers that insist on using them. I don't see this group growing much.
