mx440 low score 3dmark2001

i have a problem: how cam i get a very low score on 3dmark 2001, altrough i have a medium-performance pc. i get ~4700 points w/o overclocking, and 5280 points with EXTREME overclokcing
oc spec's:gpu:270@379,50mhz
mem:405@529,88mhz

i have also looked at futuremark's compare url's with almost same pc config, and the score is at least 6000-7000,time ago i oc'd my processor from 2ghz to 2.92ghz - no extra points whatsoever...

my pc:
Intel celeron 2ghz[northwood]( i know, it aint the best )
abit sa7 mother
256mb pc2700ddram@default frequencies
and a nippy 30gb 7200rpm hard drive...

please help me, i am very disapointed on my machine

Gf4 mx 440 64mb ddr ??
or a gf2 mx 440 32mb? 64mb?


If its the gf4 one its the same i got atm , its a not so bad card but i use to get the same scores as you until i switched to the OMEGA drivers instead of the Nvidia ones , the Omega drivers come pre-tweaked and pushed my card from a 4000 score to about 6400 points ... try em out see if they help

ps: i overclocked my card 2 about 330core and 420 memory and acheived those scores ... and mine is made by JUton or some crap like that ... so maybe yours will push more ...

Edit : Looking into a 9500Pro 128mb atm , maybe you should think about upgrading your vid card ... or CPU ... cauz that card cant run any new games higher than 800X600 without starting to get laggy ( ex: vice city , collin mcrae rally 3 , etc)

Are you running the PRO version of 3DMark 2001? Chances are you're not that's why you got those low scores. If there's any consolation my Dad has a computer with the following specs:

CPU - Athlon XP 2000+
MB - Asus A7V266 - C
Memory - 256 MB PC2100 DDR
Videocard - GeForce4 MX440
HD - Seagate 40 GB 7200rpm

I run 3DMark 2001 at 600x480 resolution; I got a whopping score of... 4795 Turns out 3DMark does only 10 out of 14 tests and I need to update to 3DMark2001 PRO to have the complete tests. Unfortunately that means paying in bucks something I can't afford right now.

If I were you, I'd:

1. Get an Athlon XP 2100+ or higher with a mobo that supports it
2. Get a GeForce 4 Titanium series videocard or Radeon 9000 up
3. Get more memory
4. Upgrade to 3DMark 2001PRO (if you have the money though)

If that doesn't give you higher scores I don't know what will...

that omega driver didn't help a thing with default clock i got 4810 points wich is 100 points greater, but still not 6000 points, maibe Kronik Reloader, you had older driver, which could be better, do u still have it?

i have considered of buying an p4 but it costs damn much! an amd athlonXP would be a better choice but then i have to buy a motherboard too

Get the : omega_14345 (NVIDIA)

Those are the best ones for the Gf4 mx 440 , those are the ones that get the best out of my card atleast .

boost up your Core to about 340 and memory to 440 and you should get a pretty decent score ...

Hi,
Is your mx440 an SE version and does it use DDR or ordinary SDRAM? If it is an SE or does not use DDR that might explain it.
Check your driver settings to make sure that you have switched all the features off (AA, AF and TS) and set for highest performance in all available areas.
Check that your card is not sharing an IRQ with anything and that you have the latest AGP drivers for your motherboard, if you need them.
The scores you are getting are similar to those on a Duron 1200 and I wouldn't expect your celery 2000 to get as high as 6k or 7k (my Athlon 2200+ gets about 6.5k).
