Open the tray, leave the cd in, then close it. If Autoplay doesn't ask what to do, open my computer, and see if it's recognized as a data or audio cd.

I usually put it in my car's CD player. I used to use my Discman, but my daughter "borrowed" it.
Funny, you say to yourself. Regular riot. HAHA. Serious, my discman was so finicky about burned CD's. Bad/low quality burn,no play . Same as my Blaupunkt stereo in my Isuzu.

I rarely end up with the CDs I burn anywhere but my own system anyway...so if it reads it on mine I'm happy

Maybe I am misunderstanding the question.....but wouldnt you just put it in another cd tray and see if you can read it?? Hehe, or if its music see if it will play?
I cant think of any way to really "test" one other than that.

Or don't most programs have a "test and burn" option when you are burning.
Would not this fit the bill?

In nero, when burning data discs, you can choose to verify the data after it has been written.
This options not available for audio tho.

comsumertalks is right. just open the drive (which the program usually does after burning anyway) and pop it back into the drive or another and tcheck it in my computer.
