its a 400w but its basic (low cost) and I really dont know if it has what it takes, whats a good PS for the xp2400 ?

couple times

a bunch, the pc will hang at times, the burner wont burn, not even at 4x (its a new burner, meaning I never actually used it on my old pc, but its a brand new plextor) have some other instabillity problems as well (you know heavy air)

it seems all power supplies ourdays are "amd approved" (or so they say, thats another thing, do they all BS ?) and in the same time some say "up to 1700, up to 2000, etc" now this is killing me since I never saw one that would say up to 2400 or more and Im sure mine doest qualify since it was a budget buy (never even considered spending hundreds on a case, I think thats a little out)

how do you guys pick your power supplies ?

Thanks
Dan

May not be the power supply but this question comes up. What core was your 2000? (palo or t-bred). Your 2400 is t-bred-b. We need to know what your mobo is.

Ok. Your board supports it. I doubt it's the power supply as it's rated enough. Maybe you'd want to slow your mem timings down or take it off auto and set it to 2.5. Worth a shot.

Also since you just installed the burner have you checked to see if you have all your pri. and sec jumpers correct. Also are you running the burner on a seperate ide chanel?
