Kids RDRAMs coupled!?

Why are RDRAMs always need to be plugged in pairs?

The Intel i820 chipset does not need RDRAM to be installed in pairs. The i840 and i850 chipsets feature a dual channel RDRAM---the rdram bus requires all slots to be filled for continuity, if not with a rimm a crimm must be installed to complete the loop...
