the indian answer
hi robin
well first of all let me tell u that admissions into IIT have transformed into more of a rat race. entry now depends a lot on slog rather than the pure intelligence that was essential some time ago. that daoes not mean that the intelligent lot is not getting in. the only reason u may call IIT tougher than MIT is simply because of the no of applicants who apply for IIT is around 5 lakhs (thats half a million)
now the answer to ur question- btech courses in india are offered by techno institutes like IIT, NIT etc generally colleges who have many braches all over the country. local colleges in cities like bombay, banglore offer both b.e (bach of engineering) and b-tech(bach of tech). btech includes an extra six month course on managment and also bosts of a better industrial recruitment.
in india, these are graduate degree courses, that is u become a graduate after this 4-year course which itself comes after 12th grade.
hope this helped
