HELP!!! Wireless and my HP Pavilion notebook

I have a D-Link 614+ router. I have been successfully running my Zaurus handheld using a D-link wireless CF card.

I just bought an HP ZE4430US Pavilion notebook which has built-in wireless capability.

I cannot connect to my wireless network. The HP recognizes that I have a network, and recognizes the SSID.

I hqave entered the appropriate passwords, but I am unable to find any way to set the channel on the HP. My network is using channel 5, and I am certain that the HP is not finding that channel. I asked HP's technical support, and they said that they will "get back to me".

HOW CAN I CHANGE THE CHANNEL ON THE NOTEBOOK?

What standard are you using for your existing wireless? (802.11a, 802.11b?) and do you know what standard your built in wireless uses?

In XP. To change the channel wireless network card do this:

Go to the Device manager.
right click your wilreless card under network adapters and choose properties.
Select the advanced tab.
Select Channel and thats where you can change the channel

AFAIK, they both use 802.11b. I believe that the problem is the channel setting.

I got the channel changed, but still cannot connect. I don't seem to be able to get the key in properly.

Finally, the answer!!

After 5 hours on the phone with HP tech support, I returned the notebook to the store.

Apparently, the wireless card in the notebook was not functioning properly.

I pick up the replacement tomorrow.

Thanks, all, for the advice.
