Setting up a WiFi Ad-Hoc with 2 Siemens 1024 PCI Cards

Help me out folks, i got 2 siemens 1024 PCI wifi cards from the local TigerDirect outlet store for 14.99 each. I installe dthem on my computer and the family computer adn i'm trying to set up an ad-hoc network for file and printer sharing but i cant seem to get the two computers to detect eachother.. what am i doing wrong? i've selected in the seeting that i wanted an ad-hoc and i made sure theyre both on the same channel and even wnet thru with windows' (XP Pro) "network setup wizard" or whatever it's called... i'm still coming up empty handed.

Do both of these pc's have the same workgroup name? How are you assigning IP's to these machines? Without a DHCP server you need to assign IP's manually.

i've assigned IPs manually (one is 223.223.223.1 and the other 223.223.223.2) ive set the gateways and subn et maskes the same and for the life of me i just cant seem to get them to work.. the workgroup name is the same... ive done everythign i remember doing when my buddies and i woudl set up wired lans... is there something im missing?
