Winamp audio stutters

Hi, I just noticed today that some mp3 files stutter and jump when using winamp and sometimes with WMP but if I load the file into goldwave it plays ok. Any easy answer to this.

Maybe it doesn't have enough system resources to play it well in Winamp and WMP, both are known resource hogs.

It's your computer. It could be:

1) system resources -- get more RAM
2) sound card -- get a real soundcard
3) processor -- you can't handle it, I'd get a whole new comp.

I changed my soundcard to a SB4.1 because I was getting problems with the onboard sound that I had. So I disabled the onboard audio, installed card and installed newest drivers that Creative has which are 26/10/01. I think that my system is ok to play them, I even did a reset and closed all other programs to see if that was it.

1800 XP
512MB DDR
Asus A7V333 audio
SB4.1
Geforce 2

Did you uninstall the drivers for the onboard sound before you disabled it?

That could be a problem. Uninstall your SB card, then remove it. Re-enable the onboard sound, boot to windows and uninstall it, reboot, disable it, then re-install your SB card. Hope that helps

I think I`ll have to give it a go, or can I delete the old entries from the device manager in safe mode?

Thanks Telexen, I un-installed the SB and re-installed the onboard audio but there were no drivers for left on the system, even in safe mode. Put the SB back in let winXP find it and istall its drivers, install the driver I got off the creative website and it seems to be ok now. So I don`t know what the problem was maybe a bad driver install or something.
