Can 2 comps share harddrive

Got a 60 gig maxtor that never gets filled and I have an extra system but no harddrive and was just sort of wondering if I could set things up to share a harddrive.I know you can get those kits that share a tower,I was wondering about just the drive, wire it myself and maybe a software program of some kind.Any ideas would be great thanks.

You could install the 60 gigger in the comp without a hard drive and share it across a network.

I'm pretty sure that can't be done. You'll either have to move the HD into the new computer, or buy a new drive for it.

Or run Linux. A distro like Knoppix will boot from a cd w/o a hard drive with no problems. You'll then have to setup the networking to get access to the other computers hd but it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
