welcome to techimo. sounds like your MoBo has a max of 1.25. not compatible with anything higher. you may need a new board.

Did you go from a palomino or thouroghbred to a barton core? If so, you need to change the front side bus from 133 mhz to 166 mhz (333)

Your fsb adjustments would be in the BIOS, usually available by pressing Del at the Post screen. Probably in advanced configuration or something similar.

When you turn your computer on, tap delete to enter the BIOS. In there you should find some cpu speed settings. The Front Side Bus(FSB) is the one you want. You need to set it correctly for your chip. You didn't say which chip you have so if it's a thouroghbred, set it for 133mhz. If it's a barton, set it for 166 mhz. Save the changes and it will reboot at the right speed. If for some reason it doesn't restart, pull the jumper next to the battery for a minute and then put it back. That resets the changes youv'e made to the bios. Good luck

when i try to change processor speed in BIOS the only options I get are 1.25 or 2000+ if i go for 2000+ it wont start up just freezes before windows screen. So do I change my FSB to 166 then it should automaticly set it to 2.0 or something

Check for a jumper on the motherboard, too.

Yes, the FSB determines the processor speed(in a way, it's acting as a governor), so change it and it will automatically asjust the processor speed.
