Installing win98SE after win2k
I dont know what subject fits but is there a way to install win98Se on a system with existing win2000pro installed on drive C. i'm planning to dual boot win98 & 2k but win2K was installed first on drive C. I've tried installing win98 on another drive, but the installer detects NTFS on drive C and cannot anymore continue the installtion. is there a way for me to avoid repeating everything from scratch?
thanks.

Sorry, but Win98 is unable to use NTFS, only FAT, FAT16, and FAT32. That's why it's called NT File System, hence only being compatible with M$'s NT-based, 32bit OS's (NT, 2000, XP).
Your running into a problem that is more than just the inability to deal with another file system. You can't have more than one OS on a single partition without running into errors of some sort. So the first step is to partition the drive, either one as FAT32 and the other NTFS, or both as FAT32.
Now install each OS in no particular order, and set up your bootloader (I recommend XOSL if your doing it on a desktop PC, but I can't remember the one I used when I dual-booted Linux and 2000 on my laptop some eons ago, as XOSL doesn't work on the LCD's in notebooks). Put Win98 on the FAT drive, and 2000 on the NFTS or 2nd FAT partition.
After this, you should be golden, just write back if you need more answers.

No, if you redo it all, install Windows 98 first...it needs to be done that way.

-The Fox | yes, as you can see in my post, i tried to install win98Se in another drive (example drive D). but i think there's no way i can do the reverse sequence (2k first then 98) in dual booting. anyways, thanks for your replies guys.
