IRQL_not_less_or_equal BSOD

Got a problem when playing Starcraft on w2k. this BSOD will occur
moments after the game loads.

the BSOD points out to hal.dll. i am not that familiar with hal.dll but i've search through the drive and found two copies of hal.dll. one is in windows/system32 and the other in the nokia7650 program directory. what is the problem with hal.dll?

or was it because starcraft has compatibility issues with windows2000?

any help will be appreciated.

Starcraft was designed to run especially on WinNT, which Win2k is based on.

Try re-intalling the game.

Oooooh, I've gotten that same BSOD at least ten times today (the irql part) every time I have to restart and it gives me that serious problem thing.... I'm unsure as to what it applies to, bu tI believe I've narrowed it down to Ram or video card, did you change either one of these lately?

i have installed and reinstalled a number of times. but still won't work. i just wanted to play a classic game. but it seems frustrating.

i have change those hardwares two months ago and they work fine in all my games except with this old starcraft game.
