WaterCooling - Building my own, but....

I still need to buy the waterblock for my chip, and a securing bracket to keep it from falling off.

Is there any place that sells these things by themselves? GOOD ones..

Do they sell waterblocks for GPUs too?

Running an AMD Athlon XP 1900+ right now.
BTW, if I want to upgrade to an Athlon XP 3000+, would my 1900+ waterblock be compatable?

http://www.dangerden.com/

Buy a socket A of your choice, and it will be compatible for all socket A CPUs

Note though that normally you have to mount these through the 4 holes around your ziff socket...you can buy the plate that mounts to the ziff socket for a few $ more

That's what I'm going to order for the kit I'm building.

Dangerden makes that block...and that's the thing that will mount to the ziff socket...it's cheaper from this place too.

There are waterblocks for GPUs, also chipsets, and hard drives.

Personally, I like Innovatek. They're a little more expensive, but, they are the best. You can find them here.

No, they're not the best. If you want the best KIT ... go with Corsair

Home built water cooling systems have been proven over and over to cool much better than complete kits for not much over $100

Why are home kits so much better?

Few people can make ytheir own CPU waterblocks, I'm still buying that part from the kits.

The rest is just hoses, pump, and a radiator.

I don't see how a kit version could screw up that part where home users seem to get it so right.

I think making your own block requires a little more knowledge of physics than people want you to think...you can buy some of the best water blocks from the site I gave you above

Don't say pump and radiator are "just" another part of it...it's important to push water over the waterblock QUICKLY to rid of the heat, and you want the water to be as cold as possible, so a radiator is not something to compromise.

It's beyond me how the Corsair system works so well...it has the same flaws (even worse) as Innovatek does...small tubing, illogical waterblock

Well I was just going to look for a good raditor and pump from local hardware stores or something.

How does it work if you have a waterblock for both the CPU and GPU?

From what I've figured so far, you would need two radiators, unless you want to run the warm water from the CPU over the GPU...
