is this worth anything??

i recently came into possession of an antec (maybe) tower. (you know the one... alienware-ish, green, locks on front and side door, with window). I'm getting sidetracked, but anyway, it came with what i found out to be a seagate cheetah hard drive
model # ST318451LC, with an attached 2 fan HDD cooler. it also has a 3-mini-fan-panel-cover-type-thing-a-mawhatsis (don't you just love technical terms ). I was wondering if it's worth anything??

on the case note. I found that it came with some imperfections that make it unusable to me so I might just play guinea pig with it for mods.

Yeah, thats a nice drive. It's SCSI, the lowest on pricewatch is 100.00. If that was my drive, I would buy a SCSI adapter and use it for my operating system. That's a fast drive.

If you can't use it or put anything in it why would you want it?
the mini 3-fans thing is about 10-15 dollars.
So over all it sounds pretty worthless, I hope you didn't pay much..

Who cares if you can't use it...if it works you can sell it...even the oldest SCSI drives aren't cheap

I'm sure you got a good deal...A few months ago I got what used to be the email server from a local Semiconductor company (my dad works there)...dual Pentium 166mhz and two 4.3gb SCSI hard drives with a SCSI controller...NOT cheap at all.

He said the he couldn't use the case, there was no indication the drive was bad. Look at these specs http://www.seagate.com/cda/products/...84,243,00.html I'd say that drive was a little more than useless

Yeah, that's a very nice hard drive indeed! 15K rpm! Just be sure to get a U160 capable SCSI adapter to take advantage of its burst speed rate....

I also hope ya didn't pay much for it, but not because it's worthless.......cheaper is always better.........especially for things like that.......... Jeordiewhite, I would say ya might wanna research what you are commenting on a little bit before slamming things as that is quite far from worthless, as most have pointed out ..........I'd hate to see someone get practically give something away based on uninformed opinions like that........ I don't mean to start anything with this, but I hate to see people misinformed by an opinion that isn't qualified.....if you aren't informed about the item and want to comment, at least say "I am not familiar with it, but IMO....." I agree with Telexen.....most SCSI drives are worth something......Sounds like a good find, CraigK

Well if you consider that feasable, then by all means spend some more money to mod it and enjoy it's emptiness in the corner.. lol
I didn't mention the scsi hd did i?
I run two 36GB Cheeta - 8MB Cache, 15,000 RPM's, i know the value of scsi's.
I have recently got these and have messed with scsi quite a bit even with friends who had to set them up.
I have a dual fan system for each of them to keep cooling at normal levels Which were both about 8 dollars, not much. I still don't see the point in having a case that i can't use?
so far you have about a 118 dollar gain.
Unless this was a refurbished case with a scsi which you can only speculate if it even still works.
I'm not fond of buying stuff that i don't even know works or what. If someone is selling something that is damaged, it's no use to them. If you can't use it for a case for a computer then it's obviously no use to you.
If they include a scsi seems something fishy is going on.. as others i have seen mention here, if it's too good to be true then it probably is.

well just answer a few of your questions. I got the case and everything in it for free. I even got a matching green keyboard and mouse with it. I wasn't expecting the drive. I got it from a family member. I don't even think he thought he was going to get the HDD with it. He bought the case for the PSU i believe.

I have no way of testing the drive to see if it works but i'll try to find some way to, If it works I'll put it up for sale. I'm comfortable with just using IDE drives, i don't feel like expanding to SCSI.
